Head to Head Tips...

Head to Head poker is different from single or multi-table games. It requires a lot more aggessive betting and taking chances on virtually everything except the worst of cards. With only two of you in it your odds of holding better cards are higher - even if you'd never consider playing them in a table game play them here!

So what else will help you with head to head games...
  • Play as if it’s a live action game.
  • Don’t be too passive – survive by accumulating.
  • Lay down your blind if the cards are bad – better to give up the blind then lose more by betting an un-winable hand.
  • If you don't get the hands, let your opponent run over you...
  • Wait for the big hand then slam it.

Playing a few heads up games can also improve your chances of winning tournaments, every tournament game finishes the same way - with a heads up.
The difference between 1st and 2nd place in most tournaments is around 50% less or more money, so it makes sense to practice this part of your game. You can find heads up games with small buy-ins in most online poker rooms, use them to practice your end of tournament play.
